MCGUINTY GOVERNMENT HELPS THE PARRY SOUND SPORTBIKE FESTIVAL

ATTRACT MORE ATTENDEES

PARRY SOUND — The McGuinty government is helping promote the Parry Sound Sportbike Festival through an investment of $3,200 to cover web advertising aimed at motorbike enthusiasts, Tourism Minister Jim Bradley announced today.

“The Ontario government is pleased to support festivals, events and attractions that boost tourism,” said Bradley. “Supporting events like the Parry Sound Sportbike Festival provides an economic boost to our communities, and a memorable experience for our visitors.”

Running July 6 to 8, the Parry Sound Sportbike Festival is expected to attract up to 5,000 visitors.  The event features a professional stunt show, national trials, a manufacturers’ expo of new products, auction, demonstrations and a poker run.

“The Annual Sportbike Rally is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and we’re delighted to be hosting a variety of activities,” said Lynn Middaugh, the events’ project manager.  “New this year is the pocket bike races and SuperMoto.  The Town of Parry Sound welcomes the many visitors to our area during the rally and wishes all great fun!”

The Parry Sound Sportbike Festival is among a number of events and festivals supported by the Ontario government.  Marketing support for these events encourages increased tourism and strengthens Ontario's tourism industry by assisting local organizations to promote their events to the people of Ontario and beyond.

“A healthy tourism industry supports Ontario’s high quality of life,” said Bradley. “Festivals and events increase tourism, bringing new visitors to communities across Ontario, contributing to a strong and prosperous economy.”
