BROCKVILLE — The McGuinty government is helping promote the seventh annual Downtown Brockville Buskers Festival through an investment of more than $2,000 for advertising in Ontario and Quebec, Tourism Minister Jim Bradley announced today.
“The Ontario government is pleased to help the Downtown Brockville Buskers Festival attract more visitors,” said Bradley. “Supporting festivals, events and attractions provides an economic boost to communities across the province, and memorable experiences for our visitors.”
The Downtown Brockville Buskers Festival, held this year on August 11, is expected to draw 12,000 people. Buskers from around the world, such as jugglers, acrobats, magicians, will perform, and the festival will also feature a Fire Show as well as children’s magic shows.
"Downtown Brockville is very pleased to receive this grant from the Ministry of Tourism, so we can reach out to new visitors through advertising,” said Rob Hunter, the event’s marketing director.
The Downtown Brockville Buskers Festival is among dozens of events and festivals supported by the Ontario government. Marketing support for these events encourages increased tourism and strengthens Ontario's tourism industry by helping organizations promote their events to the people of Ontario and beyond.
“A healthy tourism industry supports Ontario’s high quality of life,” said Bradley. “Festivals and events increase tourism, bring new visitors to communities across Ontario, support small businesses and create jobs.”
