MCGUINTY GOVERNMENT HELPS THE CARDEN NATURE FESTIVAL ATTRACT MORE ATTENDEES

KAWARTHA LAKES – The McGuinty government is helping promote the Carden Nature Festival through an investment of $1,200 to cover the cost of magazine advertising, Tourism Minister Jim Bradley announced today.

“The Ontario government is pleased to help the Carden Nature Festival attract more visitors and boost local tourism,” said Bradley. “This area is one of the top birding and wildflower habitats in the province.  Many nature enthusiasts will enjoy the festival, providing an economic boost to the community.”

Running June 15 to 17, the Carden Nature Festival is taking place in Sebright, located midway between Lindsay and Orillia.  Events include hiking, paddling and fishing. Participants will also have the opportunity to identify wildlife and visit historical sites.

“This is the first year for the Carden Nature Festival, and we’ve been delighted with the excitement our local community has shown about this event,” said Ron Reid, executive director of the Couchiching Conservancy.

The Carden Nature Festival is among dozens of events and festivals supported by the Ontario government.  Marketing support for these events encourages increased tourism and strengthens Ontario's tourism industry by assisting local organizations to promote their events to the people of Ontario and beyond.

“A healthy tourism industry supports Ontario’s high quality of life,” said Bradley. “Festivals and events increase tourism, bringing new visitors to communities across Ontario, contributing to a strong and prosperous economy.”
