Scheduled for September 29 to October 1, 2009, at the Caesars Windsor convention centre, the annual summit is also an opportunity for members of the industry to honour excellence and innovation in the tourism industry with the Ontario Tourism Awards.
The event is organized by the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, an agency of the Ontario government, and the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario. About 500 delegates attended the 2008 Summit in Toronto.
“Windsor is a wonderful, multi-cultural city and a vital economic hub in this province. It’s a great choice to host next year’s Ontario Tourism Summit, where industry stakeholders can share their ideas on how to increase tourism and make Ontario more competitive in the global tourism marketplace,” said Tourism Minister Monique Smith.
“As home of Canada’s busiest border crossing, nobody knows the importance of tourism better than Windsor. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host the 2009 Ontario Tourism Summit and look forward to making it a memorable one,” said Gordon Orr, Managing Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Windsor, Essex County & Pelee Island.
“After the success of this year’s first ever joint summit, we are very pleased to partner again with the province to produce the 2009 summit and look forward to being hosted by Windsor,” said Bill Allen, President of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario.
