WASAGA BEACH — The McGuinty government is helping to build tourism in Wasaga Beach through an investment of $25,000 to develop a tourism strategy, Jim Bradley, Minister of Tourism, announced today.
“Developing a tourism strategy will help Wasaga Beach attract new investment and create jobs,” said Bradley. “Tourism energizes communities, stimulates the economy, supports small business, and creates jobs.”
Wasaga Beach is one of the fastest growing communities in Ontario and welcomes approximately two million tourist visits annually. It has been a popular destination for more than a century.
“We are delighted to partner with the Ontario government to develop a tourism strategy that will steer future developments of tourism assets in Wasaga Beach,” said Mayor Cal Patterson. “It will also identify financial and other investment requirements and potential partnerships that will enhance the development of this tourist destination.”
In 2007, Town Council identified a need for a tourism strategy that would fit a number of age groups and sectors in a compatible environment with residents.
“Our government is pleased to support the Town of Wasaga’s new strategy to help boost tourism,” said Bradley. “The investment in the Wasaga Beach tourism strategy is just one more example of how, working together, we have achieved results.”
