New Funding To Help Festival Attract Larger Audiences
PICTON— The McGuinty government is helping promote the fourth annual Prince Edward County Music Festival, September 20 – 22, through an investment of $1,700 for newspaper advertising in Toronto, Tourism Minister Jim Bradley announced today.
“The Ontario government is pleased to help the Prince Edward County Music Festival attract more visitors,” said Bradley. “Supporting festivals, events and attractions provides an economic boost to communities across the province, and memorable experiences for our visitors.”
The Prince Edward County Music Festival, held in Picton’s acoustically superb Church of St. Mary Magdalene, offers modern and traditional classical music in three evening recitals and a special concert for young people. Performers from Canada, Switzerland and the United Kingdom will perform works by Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Ravel and Canadian composer John Burge. More than 1,000 visitors are expected to attend.
“We’re very grateful for the Ontario government’s support,” said Madeline Fiala, festival co-chair. “With this help we’re anticipating the 2007 Prince Edward County Music Festival will be our most successful ever, with increased attendance.”
The Prince Edward County Music Festival is among dozens of events and festivals supported by the Ontario government. Marketing support for these events encourages increased tourism and strengthens Ontario's tourism industry by helping organizations promote their events to the people of Ontario and beyond.
