TORONTO – The McGuinty government is helping promote the Toronto Hispano-American Film Festival through an investment of $8,000, Tourism Minister Jim Bradley announced today.
“The McGuinty government is pleased to support festivals, events and attractions that boost tourism,” said Bradley. “Supporting an event like this film festival gives an economic boost to our communities, and a memorable experience for our visitors.”
The Tourism Event Marketing Partnership Program funding will help cover the cost of television advertising. Running May 24 to June 3 at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto, the 10th annual Toronto Hispano-American Film Festival presents Spanish and Latin American video, documentaries, as well as feature length and short films.
“We gratefully acknowledge the generous contribution of the Ministry of Tourism,” said Daniel Irrazabal, director of the Toronto Hispano-American Film Festival. “This support allows us to showcase the best of our cinema, and makes the screen a window to the soul of the Hispanic culture.”
The Toronto Hispano-American Film Festival is among a number of events and festivals supported by the Ontario government. The marketing support for these events encourages increased tourism and strengthens Ontario's tourism industry by assisting local organizations to promote their events to the people of Ontario and to our neighbours.
“A healthy tourism industry supports Ontario’s high quality of life,” said Bradley. “Festivals and events increase tourism, bringing new visitors to communities across Ontario, contributing to a strong and prosperous economy.”
