Ontario Recommends Competitive Process For Niagara Falls Land Lease

McGuinty Government upholds its commitment to openness and transparency

NEWS

The Ontario Government is requesting that the Niagara Parks Commission open a competitive process to lease land for tour boat operations in the Niagara gorge.

By recommending that the Niagara Parks Commission solicit competing bids, the Ontario Government is upholding its commitment to openness, transparency and accountability.  This will help to ensure that Ontarians are provided with the best possible value in the delivery of a boat-related tourism attraction in Niagara Falls.

It is expected that a competitive process would be completed by spring 2010.

QUOTES

“Our government believes opening the lease to a competitive process upholds our principles of openness and transparency.  It ensures all interested parties get the opportunity to submit proposals in a fair and open competition.”

— Monique M. Smith, Minister of Tourism
