BROCKVILLE – The McGuinty government is helping promote Brockville Riverfest through an investment of $14,300 to cover the cost of radio and print advertising in New York State, Tourism Minister Jim Bradley announced today.
“The Ontario government is pleased to support festivals, events and attractions that boost tourism,” said Bradley. “Supporting events like the Brockville Riverfest provides an economic boost to our communities, and a memorable experience for our visitors.”
Running June 29 to July 2, Brockville Riverfest is celebrating its 25th anniversary. It will feature 54 hours of performances by local and national musicians, a seniors Jamboree Village, a “Pump up the volume” youth event, and fireworks display.
“We’re extremely grateful for this grant,” said Chris Paul, co-chair of Brockville Riverfest. “As a not-for-profit organization, assistance like this helps attract tourists to the region, and creates an exciting event for the community.”
Brockville Riverfest is among a number of events and festivals supported by the Ontario government. Marketing support for these events encourages increased tourism and strengthens Ontario's tourism industry by assisting local organizations to promote their events to the people of Ontario and beyond.
“A healthy tourism industry supports Ontario’s high quality of life,” said Bradley. “Festivals and events increase tourism, bringing new visitors to communities across Ontario, contributing to a strong and prosperous economy.”
