Did You Know?
- Northern Ontario’s population of approximately 786,000 is about six per cent of the provincial population.

The McGuinty government has established Northern Development Councils (NDCs) to help bring a northern perspective to provincial policies and programs. These three advisory councils are composed of Northerners who contribute their insights and experience on how provincial policies and programs may impact Northern Ontario.
NDCs are an important part of our Northern Prosperity Plan. They contribute to stronger northern communities by providing another way for northerners to work productively with each other and with the province. By promoting and enhancing collaboration, the NDCs will help build a strong northern economy with an optimal quality of life.
